Instead of a spring cleaning, it may be time for a space clearing.
Just like dust, stagnant energy needs to be cleared from our homes on a routine basis. Spring often brings in us a desire to clean our homes, hence the term “Spring Cleaning.” I think we have an instinctual need to clear physical and energetic clutter that has accumulated over the fall and winter months. We instinctively know or sense that our lives and homes need a breath of fresh air.
Three things to think about when you embark upon a space clearing are intention, clutter clearing, and good chi.
1) Intention – Check in with how your space feels right now. Notice how it looks, what thoughts come to mind, and how your body feels when you think of your space. Then, connect with how you would like your space to feel. Just as if you have a craving for a piece of chocolate or a cup of coffee, visualize how it is you would like to feel in your space.
2) Clutter Clearing – Clutter clearing is very important in space clearing. It is not about becoming minimalist or getting rid of all of your nick-knacks. It is really about letting go of what is no longer serving you, things that may be keeping you stuck, anything that is broken, projects you will never finish. It is time to tell the universe, I am ready for a fresh start.
3) Good Chi – You also want to think about the flow of your space. Can you walk and move easily in and around you space? Is it time to rearrange furniture? How does your space smell? Open the windows while you give your space a good vacuuming and dusting. Add a few drops of lavender essential oil to your pillow for a restful night sleep.
